With great joy and anticipation, Believers Eastern Church (BEC) Liberia hosted a grand welcoming ceremony for His Holiness Moran Mor Dr. Samuel Theophilus Metropolitan at City Hall, Monrovia. The event marked a significant milestone in the Church’s ongoing mission in Liberia and across Africa.
The ceremony was attended by distinguished leaders, including His Eminence Geevarghese Mor Makariose Episcopa, Archbishop of the Kigali and Monrovia dioceses; Rev. Fr. Dr. Daniel Johnson, Secretary General of BEC; Rev. Fr. Sachin Pakhre, Country Leader of BEC Liberia; Sis. Patricia Kamara of the Christian Health Association of Liberia; Kelvin Sebwe, legendary Liberian footballer; and Rev. Dr. Samuel Reeves Jr., President of the Council of Churches. Political, church, and community leaders, along with well-wishers from various Liberian communities, were also present to honor the occasion.
Upon His Holiness’ arrival at City Hall, he was accorded a warm and traditional welcome. Church leaders, community representatives, and local partners presented sachets and bouquets as a symbol of Liberia’s hospitality. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Liberia, further enriched the occasion with a vibrant traditional dance, showcasing the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
The program commenced with an opening prayer by Rev. Fr. Dr. Daniel Johnson, invoking God’s presence and blessings upon the gathering. Following a powerful time of worship, Rev. Fr. Sachin Pakhre formally welcomed His Holiness, His Eminence Geevarghese Mor Makariose Episcopa, and the distinguished guests.
In his remarks, His Eminence Geevarghese Mor Makariose Episcopa introduced His Holiness, highlighting his leadership and legacy. He also paid tribute to the late Moran Mor Athanasius Yohan I, whose vision laid the foundation for the establishment of Believers Eastern Church in Liberia.
Addressing the gathering, His Holiness expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Liberia for their warmth and hospitality. “I am deeply thankful for your kindness,” he said, reflecting on the significance of his visit and the strong bond between the Church and the nation. He reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to community development, education, and women’s empowerment, emphasizing that Believers Eastern Church is present in Liberia not to take, but to contribute to its growth and progress.
A central theme of His Holiness’ address was the call for love, forgiveness, and peace. “The One who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. Together, we can bring peace and reconciliation,” he proclaimed, encouraging Liberians to focus on unity and hope within their communities.
Concluding his message, His Holiness offered a prayer for the nation, invoking God’s blessings upon Liberia’s leaders and its people. “May God bless Liberia, its leaders, and all who work toward its prosperity,” he prayed.
The celebration continued with a vibrant cultural program featuring traditional performances by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Symbolic gifts, including ceremonial cloths and traditional fish, were presented to His Holiness as tokens of appreciation.
Local leaders, including Pst. A. Momolu Dukuly, Sis. Patricia Kamara, representatives from Doe, Lakpazee, and Kpanay Town, Sir Kelvin Sebwe, and Rev.
