Under the aegis of Hope for Children, a reception ceremony in honor of H.H. Moran Mor Dr. Samuel Theophilus Metropolitan and an Onam celebration were organized at Varadoor, Wayanad.
H.G. Mathews Mor Silvanus Episcopa, Bishop of the Thiruvananthapuram Archdiocese, presided over the event and shared insights on the impactful work carried out by Hope for Children in uplifting underprivileged communities.
The program was officially inaugurated by Shri O. R. Kelu, Hon’ble Minister for the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Government of Kerala. In his inaugural address, the Hon’ble Minister emphasized the importance of family bonds, empowering the younger generation, combating substance abuse, and fostering unity within society.
H.H. Moran Mor Dr. Samuel Theophilus Metropolitan delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the Church’s continued commitment to social transformation. He also assured the gathering that the Church would bring forward new projects aimed at empowering marginalized and underprivileged communities in Wayanad, with a focus on educational and social upliftment.
This was the first visit of the Metropolitan to Wayanad after his enthronement, where the Hon’ble Minister welcomed him warmly with a traditional shawl and a token of love.
As part of the celebrations, children from Varadoor who had achieved remarkable milestones in sports were felicitated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Daniel Johnson, Secretary General of Believers Eastern Church. Additionally, tribal elders from three prominent settlements in Kaniyampatta village were honored with traditional shawls and Onam gifts, acknowledging their significant contributions to their communities.
Various local representatives, organizational leaders, and social activists attended the event and delivered their messages of goodwill. The celebrations concluded with traditional tribal dance performances, followed by a grand Onam feast (Onasadya) in which H.H. Moran Mor Dr. Samuel Theophilus Metropolitan and H.G. Mathews Mor Silvanus Episcopa also took part.
