Believers Eastern Church Nagpur Archdiocese recently hosted a dynamic Diocesan Youth Secretary Leadership Training Seminar, with youth secretaries from dioceses of Mumbai, Anand, Surguja, Raipur, Bilaspur, Mandla, Bastar, and Nagpur taking part. This vibrant initiative aimed to empower youth secretaries for more effective ministry in their respective dioceses.
The sessions were led by Deacon Paul K. Samuel, Executive Secretary to the Department of Youth, whose insightful teachings and practical tools deeply enriched the training.
A special highlight of the program was a virtual message from H.H. Moran Mor Dr. Samuel Theophilus Metropolitan. His words of encouragement inspired the participants, as he emphasized the importance of being joyful in taking responsibility and shared six practical principles to guide effective youth leadership.
Deacon Paul K. Samuel conducted a series of interactive sessions outlining the vision and mission of the church’s youth ministry. Youth secretaries were introduced to a Parish Level Manual, which offers clear and practical guidance for local ministry. Participants also completed a Diocesan Youth Evaluation Form, enabling them to assess and reflect on their current efforts and challenges. The sessions also thoroughly covered the mission and six core values of youth ministry, with a focus on forming a strong “mother parish.”
On the second day, participants took part in a solemn Way of the Cross prayer. The day also included sessions on practical implementation strategies, such as how to effectively lead initiatives within their mother parishes and techniques for fundraising.
The final day of the training meaningfully coincided with the Feast of the Ascension of Christ. Youth secretaries joined in a vibrant rally, carrying icons, censers, candles, and the cross. The day culminated in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist and a time of personal prayer and meditation on God’s Word.
The training concluded with a diocese-wise evaluation and personal interviews, ensuring that the learning outcomes would be translated into practical action plans. The Nagpur Archdiocese expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants and facilitators for their commitment, making the event a significant milestone in empowering the next generation of church leaders.
