The Hope for Children Talawakelle Project, a Community Development initiative of Believers Eastern Church under the Diocese of Colombo, organized a Career Guidance Program on October 31, 2025, at N/Barathy Tamil Maha Vidyalayam. The program aimed to help students make informed decisions about their education and career paths.
A total of 150 students from Grades 10 and 11 took part in the interactive session, which was designed to help them discover their career interests, understand educational pathways, and develop goal-setting skills.
Mr. Indrakanthan, Career Guidance Program Specialist from the Talawakelle Divisional Secretariat, served as the resource person. He led an engaging session on Career Planning and Future Goals, focusing on identifying personal skills and interests, exploring opportunities after the O/L and A/L examinations, and building discipline, confidence, and a positive attitude toward success.
Rev. Fr. Antony, Parish Priest of St. John Believers Eastern Church, Kotagala, attended as the special guest and shared an encouraging message, inspiring the students to pursue their dreams with faith and determination.
The event began with a welcome address from the Vice Principal, who expressed appreciation to the Hope for Children Project for organizing a program that spoke directly to the needs and dreams of young people standing at a crossroads in their academic lives. The program also featured interactive discussions and a Q&A segment, where students actively participated and shared their thoughts.
Students expressed that the session was both motivating and practical, helping them gain clarity about their future. One student, Aashan (Grade 10), said, “The session was very useful and inspiring. It helped me understand different career options and encouraged me to set clear goals for my future.” Another student, A. Jenastika (Grade 11), remarked, “It was a motivating and helpful session. We would like to have more such programmes in the future.”
The day ended with smiles and inspired minds — a reminder that with the right guidance and encouragement, every child can dream boldly and walk confidently toward a brighter future.
