The Hope for Children Centre under the Dhaka Diocese recently organized a Pregnant Women and Young Mothers Program in the Tatihar community, focusing on maternal and child health, institutional delivery, breastfeeding, and immunization.
A total of 80 women from the community participated in the awareness program. The session highlighted the importance of exclusive breastfeeding for the healthy growth, proper nutrition, and immunity of infants. Participants were also encouraged to seek professional medical care and make use of health facilities for safe delivery, timely child care, and appropriate health guidance.
The program further emphasized the importance of routine immunization in protecting children from serious and potentially life-threatening diseases, including polio, measles, tetanus, and diphtheria. Mothers were encouraged to ensure that their children receive all required vaccinations according to the schedule of the National Immunization Program (EPI).
Ten pregnant women who attended the program received nutritious food items, including apples, bananas, oranges, grapes, and eggs, as a gesture of care and support.
The program concluded with an encouragement to mothers and families to adopt positive health practices, make use of institutional delivery and health services, and ensure timely immunization for the healthy growth and well-being of their children.
