Kotagala Hope for Children, under the Diocese of Colombo, successfully organized two free Health Checkup Camps this month at Stonycliff School and the Lochil Project Office.
These camps were initiated with the goal of providing basic healthcare access to underserved communities, especially schoolchildren and their families who may not have regular access to medical services. The initiative aimed to improve overall child health, raise awareness among families about the importance of preventive care, detect early signs of health issues, and strengthen community relations through collaboration with local healthcare professionals.
At Stonycliff School, 88 children received medical checkups, including height and weight measurements. Similarly, the camp at the Lochil Project Office catered to 116 children, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 204.
The camps not only addressed immediate health needs but also served as a bridge to build trust within the community and raise awareness about children’s health. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with parents expressing deep appreciation for the care and attention provided to their children.
Hope for Children plans to continue such initiatives in the future, ensuring that even more families receive the support they need to lead healthier lives.
