Relentless torrential rains over the past 48 hours have unleashed widespread devastation across the state of Manipur, resulting in severe flooding and landslides. Numerous villages have been submerged, displacing thousands of families and causing significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods.
In response to this grave humanitarian crisis, the Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Imphal has mobilized its priests and Relief & Rescue Team to carry out emergency relief operations. With compassion and urgency, the team has been reaching out to flood-affected communities—particularly in the worst-hit areas of Imphal—providing critical aid such as safe drinking water and other emergency supplies.
So far, the team has successfully rescued around 100 families, assisting them in relocating to designated relief camps and helping move their belongings to safety. In addition, drinking water is being distributed to affected families, addressing one of the most immediate needs amid the flooding.
Meanwhile, JNIMS (Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences) Hospital in Imphal East District has also been severely inundated due to the incessant rainfall. As part of the emergency response, approximately 100 patients have been safely transferred from JNIMS Hospital to RIMS (Regional Institute of Medical Sciences) to ensure their continued medical care and protection. Church staff, alongside priests and volunteers, have been working tirelessly to assist in the evacuation and to provide comfort and support to the patients during this difficult time.
As the Diocese remains committed to standing with the people of Manipur in their time of need, we humbly request your continued prayers—that God’s mercy, protection, and provision may rest upon every individual and family affected by this calamity.
