The Diocese of Birtamod recently organized a comprehensive Four-Day Divine Liturgy Training at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Jhapa District, Nepal, aimed at equipping priestly candidates with the essential knowledge and practical skills for serving in the Holy Ministry.
The training was led by a team of experienced clergy, including Rev. Fr. Chitra Kumar Rupacha (Vicar of Birtamod Diocese), Rev. Fr. Manja Tamang Gomja (Vicar of Bhimnagar Diocese), Rev. Fr. Jagat Bahadur Wagle (Jhapa District Leader), and Rev. Fr. Dasarath Khadiya (Pastoral Care In-charge).
A total of 12 selected deacons, aspiring for priesthood, participated in the program. Over the course of four days, the candidates received practical guidance and training in the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, under the close mentorship of the vicars and senior clergy. Each day began with the Holy Eucharist, in which all candidates participated with devotion and reverence.
The training sessions covered essential topics such as the meaning and significance of the Divine Liturgy, the importance of living according to God’s Word (2 Timothy 3:15-17), and the virtues required to serve faithfully as a servant of the Lord. Candidates were also encouraged to embrace humility and obedience, and to be ever ready to preach the Word of God at all times (2 Timothy 4:2), regardless of circumstances.
Practical sessions accompanied each teaching segment, allowing the candidates to learn the Divine Liturgy orally, visually, and through hands-on practice, ensuring a thorough and holistic preparation for their future ministry.
The Diocese of Birtamod expresses gratitude to all clergy and participants for their dedication, marking this training as a significant step in nurturing the next generation of committed priests.
