COVID-19 Relief Efforts – Believers Eastern Church

The novel coronavirus (Covid-19) continues to wreak havoc across the world, killing thousands, paralyzing the economy of many nations and decimating lives and livelihoods of millions living on the fringes of society. The World Health Organisation (WHO) on March 11, 2020 declared COVID-19 a global pandemic. To curtail the spread of the deadly virus, several countries including India have imposed lockdowns. Unfortunately, the nationwide lockdowns in developing nations have thrown the livelihoods of millions of daily wagers, migrant laborers and poor segments of society into a chaotic twister.

BELIEVERS EASTERN CHURCH RELIEF EFFORTS

Amid this ongoing crisis, Believers Eastern Church dioceses and parishes in India and Sri Lanka are doing everything possible, reaching vulnerable communities with essential relief aid and offering them help, support and hope to tide over this crisis.

In the initial phase of the outbreak, the church workers focused on sensitizing people and spreading awareness about the viral infection and its prevention.

Post lockdown, we are providing relief in the form of meals, dry rations, vegetable kits, hygiene items and face masks, among others, to all those who need our help most in these troubled times. The distributions are done with coordination and approval from local government administrations while ensuring social distancing and government-advised protocols are followed.
