Believers Eastern Church Dioceses Mark World Mosquito Day Through Awareness and Compassionate Service

World Mosquito Day was observed across several dioceses of Believers Eastern Church through meaningful initiatives aimed at raising awareness about mosquito-borne diseases and extending practical care to vulnerable communities.

The observances in Chennai, Hubli, Ranchi, and Chandigarh Dioceses combined health education with compassionate outreach, focusing on communities and individuals who are particularly vulnerable to diseases such as dengue and malaria.

In Chennai Diocese, with the blessings of His Grace Thomas Mor Kurilos Episcopa, the Women Fellowship and SOC team reached out to two nearby slum communities and supported families in need. Ten families received mosquito nets, while community members were educated about mosquito-borne diseases, including malaria, dengue, and Zika, as well as the importance of personal hygiene, preventive measures, and maintaining a clean environment.

Hubli Diocese marked the occasion through an awareness rally involving Government School children. The Women Fellowship and SOC team also conducted dengue-awareness sessions in a community affected by dengue infections and provided mosquito-awareness education to another group of school children. The participation of young students helped spread the message of prevention and healthy living within the wider community.

In Ranchi Diocese, the Church extended practical assistance by distributing 100 mosquito nets to leprosy patients and needy widows and widowers. The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the Church’s care and concern, highlighting the impact of even a simple act of service when offered with compassion.

Meanwhile, in Chandigarh Diocese, the Women Fellowship and SOC team visited a slum area, where they met daily-wage labourers working in brick kilns. Through an interactive awareness programme, the team explained ways to prevent mosquito bites and protect against mosquito-borne diseases. Mosquito coils were also distributed as a practical measure of support.

These initiatives demonstrate the Church’s commitment to serving communities not only through spiritual care but also by responding to practical needs that affect everyday life. By combining health awareness, prevention, and compassionate assistance, the dioceses sought to empower communities to take simple but effective steps towards protecting themselves and their families.
